International Choreographers Retreat
While you are reading the June Monthly now, I am assembled with 30 choreographers from varied practices and backgrounds at the International Choreographers Retreat in Jouvence, Quebec, organised by Montréal Danse.
Delving into themes of sustainability, environmental mindfulness, inclusivity, and equity, the retreat provides a platform for international arts leaders to gather and engage in thought-provoking exchanges in order to reimagine the future roles of choreography in our society. Right now, I am processing our discord with the other artists. I look forward to sharing these inspiring learnings on the TFC social media channels after the retreat HERE!
Jared Davis is a digital generalist living and creating on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. With a background rooted in parkour, Jared intuitively explores and pushes the boundaries of what is possible for the human body. He has performed for film and television and utilizes his knowledge of human movement in his creative works as a photographer and motion designer.
Jared’s self-taught education of movement and visual arts has afforded him the freedom to explore openly without the influence of traditional institutions. Instead, he relies on collaboration with other artists to challenge his vulnerability, process and intentions.
